Halfway through the second half at John Makuvek Field tuesday night, everyone knew it. The Greyhounds were feeding Gabby Stelzmiller up front. Yet no one on the Catholic University of America could stop it. 3 goals and a pile of black and red defenders later, the two teams were heading to OT tied 3-3. Then in the 104th minute with the focus on Gabby, Moravian finished the game off with a breakaway goal off the foot of Senior Forward Valentina Margiottiello. Moravian goalie Jessica Lawton was not bored making 8 saves including a monster in the second half that kept the Greyhounds in it until Gabby could do her thing. Make no mistake this was a big time team effort as these women put on a great show...but Gabby was hot and the whole team knew it and did a great job of feeding her. Personally i was blown away on the 3rd goal as she must have been giving up 5 strides to the defense when starting her run with the ball on the left sideline. By the time she was halfway into the box she had cleared 2 defenders and was one on one with the keeper. End result = hat trick. Moravian goes to Scranton on saturday to play the top seed at 1pm. Let it be noted a Bethlehem Soccer Superstar was born on this night and she is only a sophomore. This is such an exciting team to watch now and the future might even brighter. What a night at "the Mak"!
