Liberty High's Kathryn Wescoe Named 2017 BFF Female of the year!

Congratulations to Liberty High School's Kathryn Wescoe for being named the Bethlehem Futbol Factory's 2017 Girl of the Year! Now this was tough! I had girls/women in mind at every school i covered for this award. The one guideline i try to base this award on above all others is simply this: who jumps out at me each time i am covering a game? Kathryn did each game without fail this year. Liberty did not have the best record or the longest playoff run of our local schools in 2017. But #6 was an integral part of every Liberty win and made every loss a fight to the finish.

Kathryn much to my surprise is only a sophomore. She had 13 goals and 5 assists this year after putting up very strong stats as a freshman. She is all over the field and in the middle of everything...scoring big goal after big goal. In the near future i will be reaching out to Kathryn in an attempt to get a little interview with her but in the meantime please enjoy the paragraph below her coach was nice enough to provide.

"I have had the pleasure of coaching Kathryn since she made the varsity team at Nitschmann Middle School as a seventh grader. She is one of the most tenacious girls I have seen play the sport of soccer. She NEVER quits! She is also a player that can and will play almost any position she is asked to play. She plays every position asked of her extremely well. Finally, Kathryn is a very coachable! She is eager to learn, and is willing to try anything asked of her on the soccer field. A SUPER young lady who has very promising soccer career and future in front of her!" Coach Scott Rodenbach

I made it a point this past year to cover more woman's/girl's soccer and i was glad i did. All the programs are strong and offer great local role models for younger players to look up to. So cool to see how far this sport has come. Every girl's #BFFBowl game this year was an absolute battle.

Lastly I want to make one more special mention: Freedom High School's Hailey Gshrey had a monster year as freshman this year. She helped lead Freedom 2 deep into districts and joins a very young and talented Patriot core that is sure to make more noise in the future (hmmm perhaps a story)...BFF will be watching! Keep up the great work girls.
