LVU PRESS RELEASE:
Greater Bethlehem Soccer League, the longest-running recreation league in the Lehigh Valley, which has served the soccer community for 53 years, is merging with Lehigh Valley United, the most successful soccer club in the valley.
The merger begins with the 2021 fall league season.
"I have been running coaching clinics and consulting with GBSL for the past 15 years," offers Dean Koski, President of LVU, "and Dave Zimmerman, GBSL's President, and I have discussed the possibility of a merger for years. This just feels like the perfect time to combine our resources.”
The GBSL rec league will still be held at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus, which has also been a great partner to both LVU and GBSL in hosting games, practices, and leagues.
"I am really excited on behalf of GBSL to be a part of LVU's diverse programming for all ages, ethnicities, genders, and abilities," explains Zimmerman. “Dean Koski and LVU have been engaged with GBSL for many years offering their resources, designing and purchasing t-shirts for our 50th anniversary, and advising us on best practices for recreation level players.”
Registration for the GBSL fall season will now be fully online and can be found on LVU's main website at lehighvalleyunited.com
"LVU is the first club in Eastern PA that will offer soccer programming for all ages and abilities from ages 5-25 with our USL men's team, says Koski. “Certainly winning state, regional and national championships will be goals for our elite teams, but to achieve these goals, most players start at the recreational level."
